    Excerpts from Ionia Obituary

      NORVAL GEORGE YOUNG JR.

Died July 20, 2025-age 84 at Long Lake home in Ionia Co.
Born April 4, 1941, son of Norval & Frances (McNamara)Young.
Norval grew up in Lansing, MI. along with six siblings.
He graduated at Sexton High School & played semi-pro football in Lansing.
Norval earned a bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico & Master's 
degree at MSU.
He married Carol Ellen Cole on September 1, 1967.
They owned several local businesses,Dispatch Deli, everybody's Market, The 
Blinker Light, Rogues Pub & Gathering Place & Dispatch Sports Pub, which he 
operated for 50 years.
On retirement, he well loved as a Counselor at Waverly Schools.
They enjoyed spending winters at New Smyrna Beach & summer week-ends at Long 
Lake.
Preceded in death by his wife, Carol, parents, Norval Sr. & Frances Young, 
brothers Norman & Michael Young, sister Susie Young & good friend & former 
student Todd Stiles.
Survived by his sisters Francine (Dean) Anderson, Nancy (John) Wilcox, Pam 
Young, sister-in-law Sue Young & many nieces &  nephews.
Private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements cared for by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
