He died of injuries suffered in an auto accident December 21 enroute to Florida. He was born January 15, 1891 to John and Addie (Whitmore) Young. He was married in 1910 to Mabel Ritenburgh who survives. For 55 years they lived at their present residence on David Highway. Also surviving are two sons, John Willard of West Palm Beach and Donald of Ovid and a daughter Phyllis Brown of Muir. 1-31-1966: "Ray Young, 75, died 1-25-1966 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Bearers Harold and Dick Bennett, Max Mason, H. Hile and Harry Emelander." Ionia Sentinel Standard, 26 Jan 1966 Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Boynton funeral home for Ray Young, 75, of 1356 David highway who died Tuesday morning in a West Palm Beach hospital in Florida. He died of injuries suffered in an automobile accident December 21 en route to Florida. Mr. Young was born January 15, 1891 in Berlin township and lived all his life in Ionia county. His parents were John and Addie Whitmore Young. he was married in 1910 at LeValley church to Mable Ritenburgh and for the past 55 years, they had resided at the present residence on David highway. Mr. Young was a board member of Balcom Cemetery association for many years. He is survived by his wife, Mable; two sons, John Willard of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Donald of Ovid; a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Brown of Muir; also 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The body will arrive in Ionia Friday and will be at Boynton funeral home. The Rev. John Sturk of Owosso will officiate and interment will be at Balcom cemetery.
