The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, February 28, 1969


Mrs. Bessie A. Young, 80, died Thursday evening at her Nickle Plate road home 
in rural Ionia.  She was born December 15, 1888 in Manchester, N.H. and was 
married December 15, 1909 in Ronald township to Herbert Young, who died 
September of 1958.  She was a member of North Plains Community church, Ladies 
Aid society of the church and also the Gleaners.

Surviving are two sons, John of Seattle, Wash., and Fred of Muir; one 
daughter, Mrs. Fern Walthuis of Ionia; 13 grandchildren and 10 great 
grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Thomas of Howell and Rollin Thomas of 
Tustin; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Stevens of Alleghan and Mrs. Marian Taber of 
Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at North Plains Community church 
with burial at North Plains cemetery.  Mrs. Young is at Estep funeral home 
north of Muir.  Bearers will be her grandsons.
