Youngs, age 75, passed away peacefully on Wed., March 9, 2005, at Muskegon’s HVNS Hospice after a courageous struggle with cancer. Born to Sidney and Agnes (Miller) Campbell on Dec. 18, 1929, her childhood and teen years were spent in the Ionia County areas. She married William R. Youngs on April 3, 1948, and they raised two daughters. The family lived for many years in the Michigan communities of Ionia, Battle Creek and, since 1977, in Muskegon. Alice was employed as a seamstress in Ionia, a patient care aide at Ft. Custer Hospital in Battle Creek, and an employee of the Secretary of State office in Battle Creek. Alice, tiny but feisty, was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker with an indomitable spirit, fierce loyalty to her family and a ready sense of humor. Her generosity, warmth and hospitality were extended to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her eldest brother, Max Campbell of Saranac. Alice is survived by her husband, William R. Youngs; daughters Kathryn Rabbitt of Muskegon and Linda (Greg) Pyott of Cocoa, Fla.; grandson Joseph (Carrie) Rabbitt of Mishawaka, Indiana; sisters Dorothy Seiler of Saranac, Katherine “Marie” (Randall) Vining of St. Johns, and Fern McGraw of Carson City; brothers Gordon (Joan) Campbell of Lowell and Archie (Mary) Campbell of Douglas, Georgia; sister-in-law Marvel Campbell of Muskegon; sister-in-law and brother- in-law Beverly and Roger Scheidt of Kalamazoo; countless nieces and nephews; and the many other relatives, friends and neighbors who were privileged to know her. She will live forever in the hearts of her family members. In Muskegon, visitation is Friday at Sytsema Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 13th, 2005, at Lake Funeral Home, 158 Mill Street, Saranac, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather after the service at the American Legion, 65 Bridge Street, Saranac.
