The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, July 29, 1939

Mrs. Verona Young, 65, wife of John Young, 409 West Washington street, died at 
the Ionia City hospital Friday, July 28, at 7 p.m. following two and one-half 
months of illness.  Mrs. Young had resided in Ionia for over 50 years.

Born October 7, 1863, at Crystal in Montcalm county, Verona Lewallen was 
united in marriage August 3, 1925 with John Young at Ionia in the E. R. Bailey 
home.  She was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal church where a 
commemorative memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 1.

Funeral services will be held from the Bradley home at 2 p.m. for the family 
and from the St. John’s Episcopal church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday for friends with 
Rev. E. T. Kneebone officiating.  Interment will be in the family lot at 
Highland Park cemetery.  The remains will lie in state at the Bradley funeral 
home until the services.
