He was born near Belding on the family farm on April 25, 1918, the son of Henry and Clara Danish Zahm. Clarence worked for the Citgo L.P. Gas Co. before retirement and was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, serving in Africa and Europe. He was a life member of Post 4406 VFW of Belding, a member of the American Legion for 57 years with membership at Croton Post 0381, a member of Moose lodge 1939 of Greenville and the Eagles 4321 of Belding. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Miriam and he enjoyed many hours of card playing. Clarence was a farmer all of his life. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Raymond Zahm, Helen Bozung, Marquerite Kreigh and Leland Zahm. He is survived by his children, Patty L and Doug Miller of Pierson, Billi Demoray, Julie and Michael Zoscsak, all of Greenville, Chris and Bonnie Zahm, Joseph and Cindy Zahm, James Zahm, Tracy Zahm, all of Belding; his longtime companion and card partner, Linda Blaser of Belding; grandchildren, Joe Demoray, Michelle Peek, Lisa Sangster, Heather Ritter, Brian Zahm, Lynn Nguyen, Mike Gachter, Nathan Butler, Brendon Zahm, Jordan Smith, Nickie Zahm, Cody Zahm, Zack Zoscsak; several great- grandchildren; brother, Robert Zahm of Bradenton, Fla.; sisters, Katherine and Tom Blanding of Florida, Leona and Elmer Hale of Saranac; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Miriam, with the Rev. Father Troy Nevins as celebrant. Burial is in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation if from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary’s Church.
