The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, February 4, 1963

Otto C. Zander, 87, of 127 Tower street died Sunday morning at United Memorial 
hospital, Greenville.  He had been ill three years.  Born in Ionia county June 
10, 1875, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Zander.  He attended 
Carr school and had lived in Ionia since his marriage to Mary Bertha Harmel 59 
years ago.

Mr. Zander was a member of Trinity Lutheran church of Grand Rapids, charter 
member of Ionia Moose lodge, and Spanish American War Veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Mary B.; a daughter, Mrs. Ester M. Nelson of Battle 
Creek; three sons, Karl F. Zander, of Grand Rapids, Richard A. and Edward W. 
of Ionia; 30 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.  Two sons, Henry and 
Herman, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at Myers funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Dr. 
Richard E. Albert of Trinity Lutheran church of Grand Rapids officiating.  
Burial will be at Balcom cemetery.
