Woman Is Found Dead Tuesday

Mrs. Meta Zander, 38, wife of Francis Zander of 478 Hill street, Ionia 
township, was found dead in bed by her 15-year-old daughter about 7:30 a.m. 
Tuesday.

Coroner Dale Kauffman and Sheriff Peter Van Vleck said Mrs. Zander appeared 
to have suffered a heart attack. The said she had been up earlier in the 
morning to start wash water heating on the stove. Her husband, who is 
employed in Grand Rapids, had left for work at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.

She was born in Ionia, April 22, 1918, the daughter of Godfrey and Mary 
Wendland,  in the same home where she died, 478 Hill street.

Mrs. Zanders attended Ionia High school and was married to Francis Zanders, 
April 27, 1936 and resided in Ionia all her life. 

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, Ladies aid and Adult 
Fellowship of the church.

Surviving are her husband, Francis, five children, three sons, Gary, 19, 
Dennis, 14, Gale, 9 and two daughters, Linda, 16 and Joyce, 15. A brother, 
William preceded her in death in 1940.

Funeral services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran church, Thursday 
afternoon, September 13, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Eric Cash will officiate and 
interment will be in the Highland Park cemetery. 

Friends and relatives are being received at the Boynton funeral home until 1 
o'clock, Thursday afternoon.
