Carol M. Zander, 77, of Ionia, passed away March 18, 1999, in Lowell.  She was 
born Sept. 16, 1921, in Kentucky the daughter of Chester and Mary Alice (Cook) 
Drown.  She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Yvonne) Keitz of Highland and 
William (Marcia) Barkas of South Carolina; daughters, Carol Edlin of Portland 
and Patrece Thorp of Grand Rapids; brother, Edward Drown of Kentucky; 23 
grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Francis (Swede) Zander on July 31, 1990; three brothers and a sister.  
She was an active member of the Ionia Moose Lodge and the Ionia Elks Lodge.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 11 am., Saturday, March 
30, 1999, at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia, with Rev. Kendall Harger 
officiating.  Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to the Ionia Area 
Hospice.
