The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Thursday, July 27, 1961
John Jay Zander, 73, of route one, died at Ionia County Memorial hospital 
Thursday at 10 o’clock.  He was born July 9, 1888 in Montcalm County, and had 
been ill the past year.  He had been a member of the Moose lodge since 1920, 
and was employed as a carpenter for William Morris 20 years.  

Surviving are his wife, Sadie; three sons, Wayne, LaVerne and Francis Zander 
of Ionia; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. 
Minnie Hahn and Mrs. Fred Prall of Ionia.

Service will be conducted at Myers funeral home Saturday at 2:30 pm. with 
burial at Balcom cemetery.
