The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 8, 1972

LaVerne Zanders, 54, of 716 Harrison, died early Monday morning at Ionia 
County Memorial hospital.  He had been in ill health for the past seven months.

Born in Ionia, June 23, 1917, he was the son of John and Sarah Rahn Zander.  
He attended school in Ionia and was a 1933 graduate of Ionia high school.  He 
worked at Kelvinator in Grand Rapids and Williams Brothers Construction 
company and the past 15 years was employed at Ionia Manufacturing company and 
its successors, working at General Tire company when he became ill.

He was married March 15, 1947, in Ionia and they celebrated their silver 
wedding anniversary March of 1972.  He was a member of the Loyal Order of 
Moose.

Surviving are his wife, Doris; four sons, Charles of Ionia, William of Palo, 
Michael of Woodland and Richard of Chula Vista, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. 
Nelson Thorn of Eagle, Mrs. Gary Wernette of Belding and Mrs. William Stump of 
Ionia; 21 grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Sadie Zander of Ionia; two brothers, 
Francis and Wayne of Ionia.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Leddick funeral home.  
Msgr. Edward Jaworowicz will officiate and interment will be at Sunset 
Memorial Gardens cemetery.  Family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 
to 9 p.m.
