The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, October 22, 1929

Mrs. Marie Zanders, wife of Charles Zanders and a resident of this city the 
past 41 years, succumbed to a long illness at her home, 661 North Jefferson 
street, Monday at midnight.  She was born in Germany July 26, 1864, and came 
to Michigan when 24 years of age.

Funeral service will be held from the residence Thursday afternoon at 1:30 and 
at St. John’s Lutheran church at 2 o’clock, Rev. B. H. Succop officiating.  
Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.

Anyone wishing to view the remains may do so at the house.  The casket will 
not be opened at the church.

Besides her husband, to whom she has been married 39 years, Mrs. Zanders 
leaves three daughters, Mrs. Charles Melzow and Mrs. William Coates, of this 
city, and Miss Edith Zanders, of Chicago; seven sisters, Mrs. August Heiden 
and Mrs. William Kosbar, of Ionia; Mrs. Fred Doscher and Mrs. Herman Kehr, of 
Marengo, Ill.; Mrs. Fredericka Brener, of Belvidere; Mrs. Lena Archterfeld, of 
Glenn Ellyn, Ill., and Mrs. Ida Carmey, of Caperon, Ill., and four brothers, 
William Stahl and Fred Ruback, of Ionia, Herman Stahl, of Belvidere, and 
Albert Stahl, of Woodstock, Ill.
