He had made his home with his daughter for 15 years and had been in failing health for six years. He was born in Germany and moved to Ionia 70 years ago. A woodfinisher by trade he worked in the P.M. car shops for many years and for 17 years at the Stafford Manufacturing company. He also had been employed in the old Ionia wagon works. His wife died in 1929. Zanders was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Melzow and Mrs. William Holtz of Ionia and Miss Edith Zanders of Chicago; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one brother, Albert, of Ionia. Funeral services will be conducted at the Boynton funeral home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. R. A. Rook. Interment will be in the family lot, Highland Park cemetery.
