March 26, 1920 FORMER LOCAL BUSINESS MAN DIED IN FLORIDA An outline of the life of Samuel Zelner whose death was mentioned in last week's Wave-Times OBITUARY Samuel Zelner was born in Bucks county, Pennsylvania, October 19, 1840. He was one of the ten children born to Aaron and Anna Myers Zelner. With his parents he moved to Canada at the age of six years. when 26 years old he came to Gaines township, Kent county, Mich., where Nov. 9, 1973 he was united in marriage to Julia A. Woods, their first home was on a farm on French street. In this first home were born Etta, Now Mrs. O. Blouth of Hastings, Mich., and Otto now serving on the faculty of the University of Minnesota. After a few years they moved to Bowne township where Mr. and Mrs. Zelner settled on a piece of nearly wild land where they carved a splendid home from the wilderness. At this home which became so dear to them were born Olive, now the wife of Dr. A. S. Pilkinton of Morenci, Mich., and Aaron Earl Zelner who died in 1907 at Redlands, Calif., aged 20 years. During the 15 years of life on their homestead, Mr. and Mrs. Zelner became a very real part of the neighborhood life and of the United Brethren church at Freeport which after his conversion in the spring of 1883, Mr. Zelner together with his wife joined.
