Zerfas, 83, of 44the St. Grandville passed away Wednesday, March 10, at St.Mary's Hospital, Grand Rapids. He was the owner of four International Harvester Company branches in Allegan, Plainwell, Portland and Lake Odessa from 1931 to 1941 which sold farm machinery. He also was a former commercial potato and onion grower near Portland and was a Past Grand Knight of Columbus at Portland. Surviving are four sons, Msgr.Herman H. Zerfas, pastor of the St.Sebastian Church, Byron Center and Superintendent of Education for the Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids; Edmond of Eaton Rapids; Gerald of Boston, Mass and Ronald of Lansing; three daughters, Sister M.Claudette SSJ of Muskegon, Catholic Central; Mrs.Donald (Bernice) Sibal of Goshen Ind., and Mrs.Bruce (Deloras) Douglas of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Mrs.Helena Vorenkamp of grand Rapids, 26 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass was held at the St. Pius X Church at Grandville, Saturday at 11 a.m.. His son Msgr.Herman Zerfas officiated with burial in the St. Sebastian Cemetery, Byron Center.
