Mary E. Ziehm,78, Lantana , Fla., formerly of Belding,died Monday, May 18, 1998.
Mary was born Nov 19, 1919, in Belding, the daughter of John R. and Ethel
Hammond Byers. She was preceeded in death by her husband Kurt Ziehm and one
brother, William Byers. She was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church in
Lantana, where she sang in the choir. She was also involved with the First
Congregational Church of Belding. She and her husband, Kurt, were very actively
involved in home restoration and together repaired, fixed, replaced and updated
30 homes in Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Florida. She loved to bowl, and in
her youth, was extremely good at it. She also played some golf, but had a real
passion for fishing and just being around the water. Although she and Kurt
wanted to have children, they were not successful.  However, they enjoyed
watching and participating in the growth and maturity of their nieces and
nephews.  She is survived by three nephews and a niece.John and Tina Byers of
Broadview, Ill, Leonard Jr. and Jane Ziehm, Richard and Elena Ziehm, all of
Palatine, Ill Julie (Ziehm) and Joe Ruetz of Franklin, Wi. Funeral services are
at 2pm Saturday at the Johnson funeral home, Belding, with Reverend Dick
Woodward officiating. Interment will be at River Ridge Cemetary. Visitation will
be Saturday from 12 noon to the time of the services. Memorials may be made out
to the Alvah N. Belding Library or First Congregational Church.

Additional Comments:
Mary was a cousin of my mother, Helen McNally Rafferty, native of Belding.
