April 28, 2009 Joseph G. Zilafro, aged 75, of Saranac, went home to be with his Lord April 26, 2009. Joe was born April 6, 1934 in Parker, Penn. The son of Joseph Alan and Ethel (Stewart) Zilafo. He married Dillie Glenn Aug. 8, 1964 in Detroit. He worked as a machinist in Tool and Die for many years until retiring at the age of 70. Joe was a member of Calvary Church in Grand Rapids. He had a very strong passion for fishing. He was a Korean War Veteran of the Army where he was a classified sharp shooter and also taught electronics. Joe is survived by his wife Dillie Zilafro of Saranac; children Jennifer (Mike) Holliday of Saginaw and Joseph (Angela) Zilafro of Clinton Twp.; grandchildren Michael Holliday, Amber Holliday, Shelby Holliday, Danielle Zilafro and Nikolas Zilafro; sister, Martha Keasey of Butler, Penn. and sister-in-law Janet Zilafro of Mt. Clemens. He was preceded in death by his twin brother John Zilafro. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at Calvary Church in Grand Rapids with Pastor Tom Couch officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Calvary Church.
