Portland Review - Feb. 8, 2009

Earl Eugene Zimmer, 80, of Portland, passed away on Feb. 2, 2009.

He was born on April 22, 1928 in Portland the son of Eugene and Dorothy 
(Burhans) Zimmer.

Earl retired from Motor Wheel in Lansing in 1988 after 42 ½ years of service.

He loved driving around the countryside.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Florence Hoppes and Kenneth 
Zimmer; granddaughter, Ashley Zimmer; and son-in-law, Denny Fox. 

Surviving are his wife, Bertha “Joyce”; children, Brenda Fox, Bruce (Anne) 
Zimmer, and Brent (June) Zimmer; two grandchildren, Adam Zimmer and Aaron 
(fiancée Casey Schneider) Zimmer; brother-in-law, Robert Hoppes, Sr.; several 
nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held Feb. 5 at the Schrauben-Lehman funeral Home, 
Portland with the Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson, Pastor officiating. Interment 
followed at Portland Cemetery.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the First 
Congregational Church of Portland Food Pantry in memory of Earl Eugene Zimmer.
