The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, July 15, 1922

The body of George Zimmerman, who died in a hospital at Columbia, S.C., the 
early part of the week, arrived in the city this afternoon, and the funeral 
will be held from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Essick, 642 East Main 
street, Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock.  Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman were residents 
of Ionia many years ago.  At that time Mr. Zimmerman was an engineer on the 
Pere Marquette railroad.  The cause of his death was given as a complication 
of disease, and he had been in a hospital at Columbia for several weeks.  He 
was 60 years of age and is survived by his wife, four daughters, and a son.  
Mrs. Zimmerman is a cousin of Mrs. Essick and Mrs. Jennie Haight.
