Kenny Roger Blanton, 50, died Saturday, September 25, 2004 peacefully at home
with his wife by his side after losing his battle with cancer. Kenny was born
December 02, 1953 in Wallins Creek, Harlan Co., KY he is the son of Rastus and
Ada Lee (Elliott) Blanton. He married Anna Marie Harless-Snyder on June 1, 2000
in Lucas Co., Ohio and she survives. Kenny attended Pioneer High School with the
class of 1972. He is the sole proprietor of KB Custom Builder, sub-contracting
through Dexter Builders. He also worked as a substitute Food Service Driver with
Ypsilanti Public Schools. Kenny was part Cherokee Indian and was a member of the
Western Cherokee Nation of Arkansas & Missouri. He followed his heritage as
published in the Trail of Tears; and had also traced his family tree back to the
Revolutionary War. He cherished the outdoors and hunting and trapping and had a
passion for the Alaskan Tundra. Also, surviving are his children from his first
marriage; Jason (Melissa Broussard) Blanton of Ann Arbor & Lisa (Deric Dropu
lich) Blanton of Ypsilanti, step children; Lisa (Greg Martinez) Snyder of
Ypsilanti, David (Barbara Fortune) Snyder of Romulus, Marcus (Amy Otto) Snyder
of Ypsilanti, and Amy (Matthew) Stafford of Ypsilanti, and 11 grandchildren.
Siblings include Lois (David) Parish of Eufaula, OK, Bunny (George) Nelson of
Jackson, MI, Chuck (Janet Tyler) Blanton of Belleville, MI, Toby (Sheri Hibbs)
Reisner of Greenwood, MN and several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews,
Step Father Robert Reisner and Father and Mother in law James H. & Dorothy L.
(Leonard) Harless of Ypsilanti, MI. He was preceded in death by his father. The
family will receive friends at the NIE FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Carpenter Rd.,
Ann Arbor, MI, on Tuesday, September 28 from 6-8 p.m., visitation will continue
at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 29th from 10:00 a.m. until the time
of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Burch of Evangelical Friends Church
officiating. Interment will take place on the family lots at Alban Cemetery,
Ypsilanti, MI
