(Karbowski), Auburn, Michigan Leona died Wednesday morning March 25, 2009 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center Midland, age 88 years. She was born the daughter of the late John and Frances (Grzegorczyk) Karbowski July 21, 1920 in Crump and had resided in this area all her life. She worked side by side with her late husband on the family farm, was a member of St. Valentine Catholic Church Kawkawlin, it's Rosary /Altar society, enjoyed visiting the cottage in Sugar Springs, especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren she was famously known for her chicken noodle soup, homemade rolls and raspberry pie. On May 25, 1940 she married Wilferd A. "Bill" DeShano, he pre- deceased her on April 12, 2002. She is survived by her children; Gary (Florence) DeShano, Gladwin, Tim (Retha) DeShano, West Branch, Neil (Barb) DeShano, Auburn, Vern DeShano, Auburn, Pam DeShano, Gladwin, Randy (Renee) DeShano, Auburn, Renee (Linden) Woodruff, Gladwin, 29 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 1 brother; Eugene (Terry) Karbowski, Auburn, son in-law; Jim (Donna) Klida, Auburn, special niece, companion and caregiver; Roxy JaJo, brother in-law and sister in-law; Gerald (Norma) DeShano, sisters in-law; Esther Karbowski, Crump, Marie Shaw, Cocoa, FL., and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by 2 daughters; Shirley and Diane and 2 brothers; Edmund and Henry Karbowski. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 28, 2009 at St. Valentine Catholic Church (Parrish & 9 Mile Rds.) Kawkawlin. Rev. Fr. Jerzy Dobosz will officiate with burial to follow in St. Valentine Cemetery. Leona's family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Saturday morning, Leona will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of liturgy. In lieu of flowers, envelopes for St. Valentine School and the Shirley Klida Memorial Scholarship Foundation will be available at the funeral home.
