No newspaper name given. Probably from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan Paper. Obituary of *Mary Smith. Another Pioneer Gone. On Dec 16th, 1915, death came as a relief to Mrs. John P. Smith of 108 Lyons street, who has been a great sufferer for years. She was born at Simco, Norfolk Co., Ontario Canada, March 18, 1843, thus was 72 years, eight month and 28 days of age. She came to this state with her husband in 1863 and settled on a farm in Saginaw Co., after- wards she lived in St. Louis and later on a farm in Chippewa twp. For the last seven years she has been a resident of Mt. Pleasant. She was the mother of 10 children, five of whom survive. They are; Walter A. of North Franklin St; **Mrs Emma Hollister of Twining; Eli ner Winn. Also an aged mother who lives in Canada, besides five brothers; James Kelly of St. Louis and William, Robert ,John and Salem of Canada; and three sisters: Mrs Carrie Collins of Midland; Mrs Margarite Trehoon of Canada; Mrs Eve Wilson of Chicago, and 27 grandchild- ren and 11 g-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. She united with the Methodist Church when a young girl and was a devout Christian at the time of her death. The aged mother and husband and other relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. A short service was held at the house conducted by Rev. Pinckard, after which the remains were taken to St. Louis where the funeral service was conducted by Rev. Ford of St. Louis. Internment in Oak Grove Cemetary by the side of her children. Came to Mich. in 1863, to Midland Co. Had Logging camps and farmed. They had the Tollgate house - 1 mile east of St. Louis where they charged to go over the old plank rd. form Saginaw to Grand Rapids. *gg-grmother of Sandra MIller **g-grandmother of Sandra Miller. Mary Kelly was born in Simco, Norfolk Co., Ontario Canada march 18, 1843 and departed this life Dec. 16, 1915 at the age of 72yrs, 8mo, 28da. She came to Michigan with her husband about 1863.
