In his earlier years, he was a member of the Church of England and his request was that his funeral service might be the form of that church. He was born, raised and married in England and with his family, wife and three children, came to New York state nearly fifty years ago. There four other children were born. Twenty-two years after his arrival from England, the wife and mother died, and a few years after with five of his seven children, he came to this county, having married the present Mrs. Whitehead before starting. One child resulted from this marriage and six of his children, George and Frank, Mrs. Chas Slater, Mrs. Henry Ellsworth, Carrie and Susie still live here. The esteem in which Mr. Whitehead was held among his children was fully demonstrated by their faithful and untiring efforts to make his last days as comfortable as possible. No word was left unspoken or act undone by any of them whereby they could cheer him to the time of his death. The funeral, conducted by Rev. E. L. Kellong, was held Thursday attended by a large number of his friends and relatives and the interment was at Riverside cemetery.
