Gerald John Watson, 26, of Route 1, Rosebush MI became Isabella County's 12th 
traffic fatality this year when he was killed in an accident Saturday, 
according to Isabella County Sheriff's Deputies. Deputies said the mishap 
occurred on S. Isabella Road, about two-tenths of a mile from E. Remus Road, 
about 9:45 a.m. A passenger in the car, Johnnie Nelson Grice, 20, of Route 5 
Mt. Pleasant MI was taken to Central Michigan Community Hospital for treatment 
of injuries and released. Deputies said Watson was passing when he lost 
control of the car and went off the road. The car knocked down a mail box 
before rolling over three times. The fatal accident now puts the county three 
over the 1966 record, when nine persons died in accidents. Mr. Watson was born 
on Nov. 1, 1940 in Denver Township, Isabella Co., MI and had been a 
construction worker. He was a member of the Wheelers Cycle Club of Mt. 
Pleasant. Funeral services will be held from the Stinson Funeral Home with Dr. 
John Osborn officiating. Burial will be in the Denver Township Cemetery, 
Isabella Co., MI. He is survived by his wife, Martha, a son Gerald John, Jr.; 
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Watson of Rosebush and four sisters, Mrs. 
Dennis (Jean) Streeter of Hammond IN and Judy, Nancy and Debbie Watson at home.
