(By Associated Press) Jackson, Mich., Aug 23.-The safe in the hardware store of Godfrey & Vervalin in the village of Parma, ten miles west of this city, was wrecked by burglars at 2 o'clock this morning. Farmers notes for $3,500 were secured also stocks and bonds to the value of several thousand dollars. All the money in the safe, $15, was taken, also dozens of watches, razors and other articles of value. Nitroglycerin was used by the yeggs, the heavy door of the safe being blown across the room smashing everything in its path. Additional Comments: I am a descendant of the Godfrey family in Jackson county and would be willing to share information with other descendants.
