The remains were interred in Maple Hill Cemetery. Additional Comments: Jennie Egbert, the woman of which much has been said and written of late, died on Saturday of hemorrhage of the lungs. The deceased was a prepossessing young woman 30 years of age and leaves three children, the eldest, Jennie, being 14 years of age. She was proprietress of the house in Lansing in which the girl, May Beers (Fuller) of this city committed suicide early last spring. Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Egbert was arrested, charged with keeping a bawdy house, and compelled to furnish a bond in $100. She came to Jackson, immediately upon her release, and went to live with one WT Harris at 431 North Mechanic st. at whose residence she died. About two weeks ago she attempted suicide by poison, but was saved by the timely arrival of medical aid, but has not been well since, and the malady from which she finally died was undoubtedly superinduced by the morphine taken to destroy her life. A few days after the attempted suicide, Chief Winney received a letter from one Barnes of Detroit who claimed to be Mrs. Egbert?s husband and the father of her eldest daughter. He wrote hoping to secure custody of the girl, whom he said he was simply able to support and educate. The letter was delivered to the girl herself, and she expressed a desire to go to her father, but whether or not she did is unknown. Last week, in conformity with Mrs. Egbert?s request, another husband, the man whose name the dead woman bore, residing in Charlotte, was notified of his wife?s illness and so on Thursday he arrived and took up residence at the Harris home, where he remained until Mrs. Egbert?s death. Immediately upon the arrival of Mr. Egbert, WT Harris left the house and proceeded to go on a spree, declaring that he would kill himself, and actually visiting several hardware stores in a vain attempt to buy a revolver. He was arrested Saturday evening and fined $3 in police court this morning. The body of Jennie Egbert, accompanied by her husband and children, was taken to Charlotte for interment at noon today.
