FARLEY, was born at Edinburgh, Saratoga county, N.Y., Jan. 5, 1822, and died at his residence in Jackson, Mich., April 18, 1896. His early years were spent near the scene of his birth and at the age of 16 we went to Troy, N.Y., where he served four years at the carpenter's trade. From there he immigrated to Jefferson, Ohio, making his home with his brother there for several years. Stirred by the gold fever, he spent six years in California during the pioneer life of that state. After returning to Ohio he responded to his country's call, enlisting in Co. B., 2nd Ohio Cavalry. After serving actively 18 months he was disable and retired from the service. He had on brother, Philip FARLEY, and a sister Mrs. John WISHART, then living in Tecumseh, and here he was married to Anna E. GILLESPIE in 1864. Here they resided until two years ago, when they removed to Jackson. The deceased was stricken with paralysis three years ago and had been an invalid since, and for many months almost helpless. Surviving him are a widow and three children, Richard E., of Tecumseh; May J., of Jackson and Mrs. G. W. STACY, of Buffalo, N.Y. Of his father's family only one remains, Mrs. WISHART, of New York City. The deceased was a very energetic, active man in this locality during his residence here. He was a man of strict integrity and uprightness of character, public spirited and honorable. He united with the Episcopal church when a young man and was also closely identified with Masonic and other secret organizations of this locality and an active member of Beer Post.
