Decatur [IL] Daily Review March 22, 1893
Kalamazoo, Mich., March 21.-Louis Schilling, an old and respected butcher of 
this city, was found dead shortly after 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the 
meat market of his son, Charles L. Schilling, on Portage street. His throat 
was cut from ear to ear. No knife could be found and his pocketbook containing 
considerable money is gone. It is a clear case of murder, but suspicion points 
to no one as yet.
