Harrell, MD died August 10, 2007. He grew up on a 128 acre farm during the depression and learned at an early age the meaning of sacrifice and hard work. In 1953, Dr Harrell obtained his medical degree from Loma Linda University in California and arrived in Kalamazoo for his internship at Bronson Hospital. Dr Harrell remained in Kalamazoo and established a successful family practice for over fifty-three years. His family, patients and the young people that worked with him especially those from around the world were very important to him. He enjoyed gardening, as he was a farmer at heart. He married Ruth Shaw and she preceded him in death on September 6, 1997. Dr Harrell was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judy in 1987; a son-in-law, Richard White in 1996; and a brother, Charles. The family will receive friends Thursday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Williams - Gores Funeral Home, Delton. Funeral Service will be conducted Saturday, August 18, 2007, 3:00 p.m. at the Kalamazoo Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1601 Nichols Road, Kalamazoo. Private interment will take place in Prairieville Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Pathfinders Department or Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice will be appreciated.
