Obituary, 10/15/1940, Kalamazoo Gazette: Clair W. Holden Victim of Crash Injuries Received 09/29/1940 Prove Fatal. Injuries sustained in an automobile collision three weeks ago brought death Monday to Clair W. Holden, 54, a fireman at the Burdick hotel. He, his wife & nephew Clair M Grinnell, were seriously injured Sunday, while returning from a Detroit Tiger ball game. Mr Holden died in Leila hospital, Battle Creek, Monday. His wife, Ilona, is convalescing at the home of her sister Almetta (Fred) Grinnell, north of Otsego. An employee of the Burdick hotel for one year, Mr Holden farmed near Richland. His residence was at 3007 Parkview Avenue, Oakwood. Surviving him are his widow, Ilona [Musselman], & daughter, Clairetta Jensen. He was born 07/13/1885, son of George & Georgia Chase Holden in Plainwell. He was a member of the Methodist church. He & Ilona married in 06/05/1905. Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego.
