The Climax Crescent, October 18, 1918
Lewis Thomas Holt was born in Leroy, Calhoun County, Michigan, December 26, 
1884 and departed this life at his home in Climax, Michigan October 12th, 1918.

He graduated from the Climax High School in the year of 1902.  In the spring 
of 1904 he in company with Geo Sinclair went to Miles City, Montana where he 
worked on the Government survey and returned home in 1906 and spent the 
following year around Climax working at the carpenter work and railroading.

October 8th 1907 he returned to Montana where he worked on the Government 
survey again for a few months and later was appointed forest guard.

He joined the Masonic Lodge of Climax in 1906 and later in Montana joined the 
Royal Arch and Knight Templars and later joined the Mystic Shrine in Butte, 
Montana.

He took the civil service examination for forest ranger in the spring of 1908 
and received his appointment that summer.  After working as ranger for awhile 
and acting as deputy supervisor a part of the time, he took a short course in 
forestry at the University of Montana at Missoula.  Afterwards he ran a stage 
line from Dillon, Montana, to Salmon City, Idaho returning home in January 
1918 and has been in poor health since.

He leaves to mourn their loss a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Holt and 
three sisters namely Mrs. Frank Randall, Mrs. Elsie Roe and Miss Nomia Holt 
besides a host of relatives and friends.  Funeral services were held at the 
home Monday afternoon, Rev. W.R. Kitzmiller officiating.  Burial in Leroy 
Cemetery under the rites and ceremonies of the Masonic Order.
