                First Settlers Monument:
           WHEN THE FIRST SETTLERS ARRIVED IN CLIMAX
           THERE STOOD ON THIS SPOT AN ELIPTICAL
           PREHISTORIC EARTHWORK. THE LENGTH WAS THREE
           HUNDRED AND THIRTY FEET AND THE BREADTH
           TWO HUNDRED AND TEN FEET. IT WAS SURROUNDED
           BY A DITCH THREE FEET DEEP AND TWELVE FEET
           WIDE AND WAS KNOWN TO THE PIONEERS
           AS THE FORT.
