In early 2000 vandals attacked McKain, Boughton and Cook cemeteries in Pavilion
townships.  The vandals toppled or smashed many tombstones including those of
Civil War veterans and very fragile, older stones.  Most pathetic were smashed
small tombstones of children - sometimes hurled against trees.  Pavilion
Township hired a contractor to survey and repair the cemeteries.  I don't know
what they were able to do about some tombstones than crumbled to a powder like
state.
