"Jacqueline Emma Parrott 1942 - 1955  Jackie Parrott when a student at Portage
Junior High School was killed in a traffic ""accident""  near her home.  
Kalamazoo Gazette 10/23/1955:  Passed away suddenly Saturday (Oct. 22, 1955) 
afternoon following accidental injuries.  Jacqueline was born June 26, 1942, in
Knoxville, Tennessee.  The daughter of Jack H. and Flora Parrott and came to
Kalamazoo with her parents in 1949.  She was an eighth grade at Portage Junior
High School and attended Lake Center Bible Church.  Surviving besides the
parents are one sister, Judith Elizabeth; grandparents, Mrs. Hazel Walters and
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Parrott.

AUTO KILLS GIRL, 13, ON PORTAGE ROAD
Jacqueline Emma ( Jackie ) Parrott eight grade student at Portage Town School,
was killled almost instantly...
Driver of the death-dealing automobile was Clare Cole, 52, of 215 W. Washington
St. Vicksburg.
Jackie lived only two or three minutes after she was struck. She suffered head
and internal injuries.
Cole was quoted as saying he was forced to swerve to avoid another car.  Cole
was reported to have told officers that he ""blacked out"" immediately after the
accident.
Note this ""accident"" happened before breathalyzers and stricter enforcement of
drunk driving laws."
