Albert married Sara Ann Rigby (also buried in Sand Lake)on Sept. 9,1855 in New Philadelphia. On April 15, 1889, Albert and Julia paid $600 for an 11 acre farm from A. C. Boone. The farm was located on the east shore of Austin Lake, Portage Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan - the farm is still owned by a Giem descendent. See Sara Ann Giem for a list of their children. Four of the sons became railroad engineers, Frank, William Charles, Edwin John (aka John Giem), and Archie Clyde. Three worked for the Grand Rapids and Indiana that ran through the Austin Lake farm.
