Doyle, 81, a former resident of Traverse City and quartermaster sergeant of Co. M., 34th Michigan Volunteers, which went to the Spanish-American War from this city, died at his home in Kalkaska Sunday after a short illness Mr. Doyle at one time worked in the old Hannah & Lay Company's store here, after being associated with the men's furnishing store of The Irishman and the Jew here. Forty-five years ago he moved to Kalkaska, returning here for a short time when Joy and Netzborg moved their business to this city. In recent years he managed a shoe store in Kalkaska, retiring two years ago. Born March 26, 1869, in Waterford, Canada, youngest of the 11 children of John and Mary Doyle, he moved with his family to this country when three years of age. Mr. Doyle was past master of the Kalkaska Masonic lodge and was adjutant of the Quentin Roosevelt Camp, No. 54, USWV. He was also a member of the Columbia Chapter, O.E.S., the Congregational church and the Men's Brotherhood. On December 10, 1944, he was married to Josephine Bowman of Flint at Grayling. Surviving, beside the widow, are a nephew, Earl C. Doyle of Detroit. Masonic burial services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Berg Funeral Home in Kalkaska with burial in Evergreen cemetery there. A number of local comrades of Mr. Doyle in Company M will attend the services. Additional Comments: The obituary is in error. George's mother's name was Margaret. He married Jennie E. Johnson 25 Dec 1909, in Kalkaska. After her death in 1935, he married Nellie M. (Qua) Wilson in Gaylord, Otsego, MI. After her death, he married Josephine (Fuller) Bowman, 10 Dec 1944. He had no children. He and his three wives are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska.
