The Church is not there anymore but Holy Family Catholic Church in Caledonia, MI. maintains this lovely cemetery. I started by copying all the death records for this cemetery that Holy Family Church had acquired since about 1887. I then went to the cemetery and copied down the information from the markers. The church records had the names in Latin until about 1907, and if the marker had the English name, I used the English name. On a large monument in the cemetery commemorating St. Patrick's Cemetery, the following is written on the west side of the monument. "History of St. Patrick's--St. Patrick of Bowne was organized about 1866 to serve the spread of parishioners from St. Patrick's of Parnell. Mass was celebrated in parishioners homes by the 'horseback priests,' Reverend Rivers from Grattan, two French priests, and Reverend Joseph McManus. In 1868, a log church was built on land owned by the Devine family at the present cemetery location. In 1887, the Reverend Thomas L. Whalen coordinated the building of the current St. Patrick on land deeded from Larry O'Brien to the first Biship of Grand Rapids, Reverend Henry J. Richter. The cemetery land was a gift of Catharine Devine."
