Pulte The student census list for Tyrone Township, District No. 1 School in 1875 is not in the school journal. The year of 1875 a teacher was hired, J.A. Barnes, for the winter term from November 2, 1874 through March 1, 1875 and the summer term from April 26 through August 1, 1875. Barnes was also hired for the next winter term from October 4, 1875 through September 1, 1876. There are financial records that show J. A. Barnes was paid for his teaching duties during the 1875 school terms. The next school director, T.C. Stinson, was elected September 5th in 1874 at the school board meeting; running against M.L. Squire by 33 to 19. Mr. Stinson signed the 1874 fall school board meeting November 2nd, 1874, but the next minutes recorded for the school board were on September 4th, 1876 and are recorded on the same page as the minutes from the 1874 meeting. The condition of the school journal itself is very fragile. The binding is cracked and there may be pages missing, and evidence that every available space was utilized for the school records which had some school censuses recorded inbetween others. Yet the school census for 1875 was not in the journal when it was received by the White family. Did that page get taken out? Was it never recorded? We will never know. I can only continue on with the next years school census lists.
