They came from Detroit, traveling with an ox team over a blazed trail and settled in Plainfield township. She was married to Valentine Lawrence about 1847. To this union four children were born, three now deceased. About 1858 she was married to Abraham Bishop who was killed in the south during the war. Since coming from New York, Mrs. Bishop has spent her whole life in Plainfield and Algoma townships. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John West in Cedar Springs, Jan. 19, 1916. Beside the daughter she leaves three grandchildren, seven great grand children, three sisters and a host of other relatives. Funeral services were held at Edgerton church, 21st, conducted by Elder Miller and interment made at Rockford. Additional Comments: Daughter of Andrew House and Sarah (Ward) House.
