Clarke, 68, former owner and operator of the Olin Lake Resort for many years before his retirement two years ago, passed away Saturday morning at Beacon Light Nursing Home in Marne. Mr. Clark started his resort business in 1912 with a boat rental, and owned the proberty on the lake prior to the time. He attended Ferris Institute and went to Houghton Mining College and from there went to World War I as a mining technician. He is survived by a sister, one brother and seven nieces and four nephews. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday afternoon at the Van Strien Mortuary in Grand Rapids with Rev. C, L. Walker of the Pilgrim Holiness Church officiating. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Park. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DIES AT MARNE Harvey D. Clarke, former owner and operator of Olin Lakes Resort for several years previous to his retirement two years age, passed away Saturday morning at the Beacon Light Nursing Home in Marne. He is survived by one sister, one brother, seven nieces and four nephews. His funeral was Held Monday afternoon aththe Van Strien-Alman Morturay in Grand Rapids with interment in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Mr. Clarke was born Nov, 12, 1896 in Cedar Springs. At the age of 5 he went with his parents to their farm home in the Olin Lakes Community. He attended Christian Hill School. In 1912 with his parents, he began buliding the Olin Lakes Resort. Mr. Clarke worked for over 40 years as a sheet metal finisher at the Grand Rapids Metal Office Company. His wife, former Annette Van Berburg, preceded him in death seven years ago.
