GRIMES-Verna Rose Grimes, aged 103, of Sand Lake, won the Jackpot,
grabbed her Bingo bag and danced the Polka into Heaven on Tuesday,
December 28, 1999. Grandma Grimes as she was affectionatley called
was born September 12, 1896 adn was a member of the Sand Lake VFW
#7912 Ladies Auxiliary and a life long member of Mary Queen of Apostles
Catholic Church.
Grandma Verna was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1979, a son Richard,
a daughter Martha Merlington, three grandchildren, Tammy, Debra and
Michael, several brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Friday at 100:00 AM in Mary Queen of Apostle
Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph W. Kenshol as Celebrant. Interment
St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with
Rosary being recited at 7 pm. Those wishing to make an expression
of sympathy are asked to consider the Church Building Fund or Metron
of Cedar Springs Activivties Fund. The family is being served at the
