ROY HOLLIDAY FATALLY STRICKEN A shock and sorrow to the community was the sudden death of Mrs. Roy Holliday Tuesday night about 10:15, which occurred at the family home south of town. Mrs. Holliday was ill only a few minutes, a coronary occlusion causing her death. The Hollidays were preparing to go to Florida and were doing the last minute packing in the trailer, planning to leave here Thursday, Mrs. Holliday complained of feeling ill and went into the house, where she died before a doctor reached her. Mrs. Holliday was on of the fine women of the community. She had many friends who were drawn to her by her kindness and her friendly manner. She enjoyed life, enjoyed work, and took much pleasure in accomplishing things. Often she was admonished by her family and friends not to work so hard, but always she said: "I love to work." She was born in Sparta township September 22, 1875, the daughter of John L. and Elizabeth Miller, and was named Mary Maude Miller. March 2, 1898 she was married to Roy Holliday and they lived first at Solon Center, coming 25 years ago to the home south of Cedar Springs. The Hollidays operated a fine fruit farm, and she was intensely interested in producing fine fruit, and marketing it. She attended the Baptist Church. Her home and her family were dear to her, and her interest in them surpassed all others. Mrs. Holliday is survived by the husband, Roy; 2 children, Mrs. Don Bowen of Cedar Springs and Elmer Holliday of Wyandotte; 5 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Fred Miller of Cedar Springs, John of Sparta and William of Grand Rapids. Funeral arrangements were not completed Wednesday. The Walsh Funeral Home is in charge.
