Kutschinski, 48, a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids and winner of three decorations while serving with the 126th infantry in World War I, died unexpectedly of heart disease at his home, 837 Clancy-av., NE, early Saturday morning. Wounded at Chateau Thierry, Mr. Kutschinski was awarded the purlpe heart, the silver star and the French croix de guerre. He was organizer and secretary-treasurer of the Last Man's club, composed of members of the 126th infantry band who served in World War I and who meet annually on Nov. 10, the birthday of John W. Bickert, leader of the band in World War I. He was an active member of Earl R. Stewart post, American Legion , since its organization. For many years Mr. Kutschinski served as an elder in Immanuel Lutheran church. As a boy of 14 he entered the employ of the Stahr Jewelry Co. Monroe-av., NW, and with the exception of his time in service had worked there continuously since. Although ailing, Mr. Kutschinski had continued to work throughout Friday. He rose early Saturday morning and fell dead soon afterward. He leaves his wife Frieda; a daughter, Dorothy; three sons Theodore C., William C. and Raymond O.; three sisters, Clara Kutschinski, Mrs. Edward Miller and Mrs. Freida Hoogerhyde; four brothers, Christian, Leo, Arthur and Oscar Kutschinski and a granddaughter. The body is at the Jodersma & Sons chaple, 823 Leonard-st., NW. Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. Monday at Immanuel Luthern church. Rev. W. C. Wangerin will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
