Rockford, Aug 27 - Roy Morningstar, 53, widely known Rockford barber, was burned to death early Monday morning apparently as the result of his having been smoking a cigarette in bed. The body was discovered in his room in the old Betts house when Night Officer Harly Peck smelled smoke and investigated. The bed clothes and curtains were burned but otherwise no great damage was done. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Alta Siegel, of Chicago. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at the Hubbard Funeral Chapel, with burial in Rockford Cemetery.
