Rockford Register 27 Oct 1921 & 3 Nov 1921
Rockford Register, Thurs. 27 Oct 1921:  Hyrem Morningstar, a former well known 
resident of this vicinity, died at the home of his daughter in Chicago on 
Monday of this week, following an illness of considerable duration.  He was 66 
years of age.  The remains were brought here on Wednesday afternoon and the 
funeral services will be held from the home of his son, Roy Morningstar, in 
this village this afternoon (Thursday) at 2:00 o'clock.  Interment will be 
made in the Rockford cemetery.  A more extended notice of this well known 
man's activities will be given in next week's issue.  

Rockford Register Thurs. 3 Nov 1921:  Hyrem Morningstar was born in Algoma 
Township on May 8, 1856, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. 
Alta Siegel, in Chicago, October 24, 1921, following an illness of long 
duration.  The funeral services were held from the home of his son, Roy in 
this village and interment was made in the Rockford Cemetery.  He leaves to 
mourn his loss besides the son and daughter, two grandchildren, Dale and 
Demeris Alvarez of Chicago, two brothers, Levi of Algoma and Charles of 
Northern Michigan; 3 sisters, Mrs. Eliza Moore of Sparta, Mrs. Livina Botruff 
of Algoma and Mrs. George E. Porter of Rockford.  He was a kind and loving 
father and a true friend to all who enjoyed his acquaintance.
