WILLARD S. TURNER, BANDMASTER IS DEAD. Man Who Lead in Grand Review at Close of the Civil War Expires at Soldiers Home. While on furlough from the Soldiers Home, Willard S. Turner aged sixty-nine, a veteran of the Civil war, died Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lydia G. Harrington, 127 Mount Vernon ave. He was the son of Isaac and Eunice Turner who came to Grand Rapids from New York state as pioneers. Under Captain James D. Robinson the boy Turner enlisted in a Michigan regiment as a bugler. At the close of the war he was mustered out as bandmaster. At the Grand Review held in Washington at the close of the war he was the leader of twenty five-bands.
