Tryon loaded first train of lumber on G.R.&I. F.E. Tryon, 73 years old, the first postmaster in Edgerton and one of the oldest pioneers of Kent County died suddenly Tuesday at the homestead near Edgerton. Mr. Tryon was born in 1844 in Niagara County, NY, and came to Michigan in 1863 where he engaged in the grocery business and later in the lumber and shingle business. He loaded the first trainload of shingles when Cedar Springs was the northern terminal. He was married in 1867 to Miss Adelaide House. Fraternally, Mr. Tryon was associated with the Edgerton tent, K.O.T.M.M., being one of its charter members. He was also one of the oldest members of the Rockford L.O.O.F. With Mrs. Tryon he recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the homestead where they had resided since their marriage. Surviving besides the widow are a daughter, Mrs. J.M. Vandenberg of Flint, a grandson, Harold Tyron Johnson of Grand Rapids, and four half- brothers, John, Darius and David West, who reside west of Edgerton, and Frank West of Whittier, California.
