There were full size Christmas trees and bags of leaking garbage by the back building. Liqueur bottles among the tombstones. and signs that some tombstones were dragged of their bases. old tree branches littered the cemetery. Some flat stones were so full of rotted leaves you couldn't see them. Some stones are now part of overgrown bushes or covered by dirt, sometimes an inch deep. Tombstones are stained and should be cleaned. Trees should be cut back a little to let more sun in. There is no comparison to the Ahavas Jewish Cemetery right next to it. If that cemetery can be so well kept I see no reason the Lithuanian cemetery shouldn't be. I will visit again this summer to see if anything has changed.
