He came to America Sept, 20, 1841. died July 20, 1900 in Grand Rapids, MI. He enlisted in the MI 1st cor of Engineers and Mechanics. He was a stonemason. he helped rebuild bridges and buildings on Lookout Mt in TN during the attack on Missionary Ridge.. He enlisted March 13, 1883. He married Laura Ann Crandall June 21,1849 in Albion, MI. Francis married Mary Betts in 1859 in Albion MI. She died in 1881, he married Louise Blackhurst in 1889. Laura Ann Crandall was born March 4, 1820 in Perington, NY and died July 16, 1851 in Grand Rapids, MI one year after birth of Charles Hudson, Magennis. Laura was a descendant of Elder John Crandall. Charles Hudson Magennis is buried under the Magennis monument, was born July 2, 1850 in Grand Rapids, MI. and died on Oct. 8, 1927 in Canton, MI after being hit by a car. He was a salesman of lace He married Roseannie Closson June 21, 1886, in Cass co, MI Roseannie Closson was born May 30, 1869 in Milford, IN. Parents were Issac Closson and Hannah Wright through whom this family is related to George Washington and John Mc Cain. Their children were Frank F born in 1887, Charles Byron 1890 -1962, Arthur Dean 1892-1932, Rose May 1894-1984, Donald Edson 1896-1971, Pearl Esther 1898-1934, Ralph Edward 1900-1962. First Son Frank F was born in 1887 in Grand Rapids, MI and died 1908 of tuberculosis on 141 Knapp st which previously had been a tb sanitorium.
