Nov.7, 1807 in Dutchess Co., N.Y; m. Jan.1, 1835 in Sylvan, Washtenaw Co., Mich; d. Oct.7, 1882; a. 74y 11m; with his parents, when a small boy, moved to Green Mountains, Vermont, there attended schools and colleges, became learned in two languages besides his own. Coming into Michigan in the early 30s, teaching school many terms. Having studied law he went far and near to plead the cause in early days; and being a cabinet maker he furnished the country with chairs and rakes which became justly celebrated.
